Churchill Downs

Churchill Downs, Home of the Kentucky Derby, officially opened in 1875 on 80 acres of land three miles outside the city of Louisville, Kentucky at a cost of $32,000. Over the years many additions and renovations have taken place but the largest renovation to date was the recently completed $130 million upgrade to this world-renowned racecourse. Working closely with architects Luckett & Farley of Louisville, a new comprehensive wayfinding signage system was implemented using over 4500 signs. The design for the new signage system reflects details in the architecture and complements the overall visual character of this historic racecourse.
